Oh yeah, suppose I should write something every now and again...

Ummm, back from Vegas (obviously)...conference was cool except that the damned thing was a mile from the room...and we were at the hotel that the conference was at. I'm also not exaggerating...it was a 15 minute hike. Only did a little gambling....$80 out, $155 back...so, Vegas didn't win, but it didn't lose much either. Still any victory in Vegas is a good one.

Class is done...yippee. Took my final yesterday...don't really care how I did so long as I pass...the luxury of having a job and paying for your own classes I suppose. Odd how for six months previous to taking the course, Monday nights were largely free and then suddenly Monday night is the suckiest day in the world. Made going to class difficult when you have all these people scrabbling for your attention and driving their cars into guardrails in the ice...

Hmmmm...what else, what else. Bought an obscene number of new Terminators...basically enough to replace my current stash. Really sucks that Games Workshop screwed up the US price for them...they want $50 per box...up for $35. How do I know they screwed up the price? It's cheaper to buy the same item from ENGLAND (GW UK, to be exact) and have it shipped here than it is to go to a local store. I ordered mine from an online retailer because World's Best wouldn't work out a deal on a pre-order. Love that store to death, but when you're talking over a hundred dollars difference in price...well, consumer needs win. Plus I got a winged Hive Tyrant from Forgeworld (his name is Snooky...hehe) in the deal, so meh...

WoW varies between really fun and really annoying...sometimes within minutes of each other. Blizzard, in it's apparently very finite wisdom, has introduced a system that encourages you to attack opposing players laughably titled "The Honor System"...from everything I've seen, all it does is encourage every cheap, lame and dishonorable tactic that players can get their hands on. Blizzard, of course, doesn't care...they put out a feature after all! Who cares if it's a half-baked feature missing one of its major components (which they are no doubt using this "experiement" as a stress test for) and ruining the general gameplay for thousands of subscribers. They patched, didn't they? *sigh* Some companies can do things so right, and then totally fuck them up. SOE is notorious for the same nonsense, but you'd hope one company would learn that throwing out a half-baked feature, ESPECIALLY when your public testers warn you of major issues arising in the use of those features, just isn't a smart idea. C'est la vie...outside of the incredibly stupid desicions by the company running it, WoW remains fairly entertaining when you can go somewhere without being hassled. Unfortunately the higher up the ladder you go, the less viable that option truly becomes.

Oh well, I can think of things worse than a game going bad...generally get to see them in action most days too...
