As promised, a political post.

As a concession to those of our readers who really don't give a flying rat's ass what I think on issues (or just in general), we have placed it behind the cut.

Linux sucks...well, not so much Linux as running programs that should be scrapped and are written in COBOL on Linux sucks.

Games Workshop is a bunch of sneaky little bastards. They published a catalog of 90% of their merchandise...the majority of what they SELL at any rate (not a complete listing of everything that's EVER been...over 25 years some molds got destroyed and what not). It really is a nice catalog, weighing in at 1070 pages of full color, high-gloss work. Now, I had convinced myself that I wasn't going to spend $30 on stuff that I could look up online (albeit, sometimes at a severe pain in the ass). However, the other day in World's Best I happened across one of the rare *hardback* catalogs, which were $40. Ended up paying that much for a catalog, but it's just such a gorgeous reference guide, it was worth it. Since a comparable "real" book would have cost closer to $100, I'll lie to myself and say it was a really good buy. Nevermind that the purpose of this book is to separate me from my money.

Again, Mr. Ulanti kicks ass...just letting you know that is a trend that continues.

Finally, I have begun to plumb the depths of my madness with Games Workshop. As many of you know, Mr. U maintains a slowly more accurate toy inventory (think it's at least 2/3-3/4 in now). As it stands...the retail value of my collection currently (which is NOT equal to the price paid, but is the replacement value of) has so far come out to $10,175.50. Now, there are some big items missing off that (for instance, about half of my Space Marines and vast majority of my Imperial Navy and Chaos Warfleet) so that number is closer to $12000 I believe. NOW do you people understand why they will be a mentioned item in my will? They're worth more than my car! Which is probably a sign to start car shopping....

Anyway, I was going to write this big post about political issues...but maybe next time...

I want I want I want!! Think of the joy that Krinny has brought to you all over the years...isn't it worth that much? Come know you want to...

My boss is out sick again you know I'm just being Mr. Good Worker and getting everything I need to done...uh huh...and did I mention I have a very nice bridge I can sell you?

Eventually I will get to punting the piece of *%#@ Linux OS to get it do what I want...but blah, I hate it. Linux is a fine OS, but when you have to set it up for non-computer people to use, it's the most awful OS ever designed. You *have* to know what you're doing with it...which makes it hard to prepare it for people who have no idea.

Playing around with Army Builder that Warhammer and 40k have received updates (40k hadn't been updated since October prior to the update released on the 2nd of this month). It's fun to see how large the armies would be if I'd ever actually sit down and paint them...

I was going to talk more about that but I got sidelined trying to track down a $4.95 difference between my records and my bank's...not that I'm complaining as the bank says I have the additional 4.95, but I want to know where the error was made.

*Update* Found a transaction in checking that was already listed (correctly) on my credit card. Mystery solved (would have been solved a lot faster if I could do math).

So anyway...yeah...I'm going to go try and get this machine to work like it's supposed to. Might post more later...might not.

Lookie at the trouble I started! Ok, so if you don't play Planetside, that will be *absolutely* meaningless to you and will look like 4 pages of pointless arguing, which it is, but that's not the point. The point is that MY post has reached 4 pages in length (so far)! Yay me!

In other news, my alarm system went in OK...took about two and a half hours to install (but they did straighten out my phone lines which apparently were messed up when the painters were there) and it's a neat looking system to boot. Actual monitoring starts tonight, so now none of you theiving gypsies can take my stuff...bastards...

Speaking of theiving gypsies, got to do that fun "Express Mail" thing today. Fortunately I waaaaaaaay overestimated the weight of this stuff and it was about $10 cheaper than I thought it'd be. Should be where it's going tomorrow. I picked up a 40k book, some Bretonnian Men-at-Arms and a new paint thingy of Bleached Bone for I'd call that a rather productive lunch hour. Don't forget that I also grabbed lunch in this time! Didn't eat it until I was back at work...but I got it!

I'm like...the productivity king.

The notable exception to this productivity of course being that which I'm paid to do. I've sent out a few emails...wrote up a few evaluations, that's really about it. I'll probably keep working on these Linux machines a bit more, but since they always seem to break in the middle for no apparent reason, I'm quite tempted to just shoot them all and be done with it (the machines, not the people).

Mr. Ulanti is the fucking bomb...carrying around the amount of stuff that he has on him is just remarkable. People looked at me funny for getting this expensive thing to do that which a promotional date book from a company can do, but over the past 7 months, he has more than proven his worth (to the point that I actually personify a PDA!). In my pocket, I have the contact information for 160 businesses and people, I have my e-mail, my entire toy inventory (well, that which I have had the opportunity to inventory), my home inventory (which includes information about my loan...which he can do a payment breakdown for on demand, as well as DVD/Video collections), my finances for the past month (including current account balances), the jotted down notes of dozens of meetings, a small library of novels and maps from here to Philadelphia and westward. It's a lot of stuff for something the size of my hand to be carting around...and I'm not even using him fully, tons of other things I *could* make him I plan to have my CDs cataloged soon...just need to work out the right database format. I am greatly saddened by the fact that he is no longer available through Dell's website. Reports are that Ulanti's brethren will make their smashing return in March ' start saving folks! You *need* one...

Ok...I've dodged real work for long enough...back to the trenches.

Boy, it didn't take me a whole week to update...must be getting sick or something...maybe I'm dying? Sure, that wouldn't matter to some people...but who knows?

Anyway, ummm...yeah, owe lots of money to lots of people fairly soon. Homeowner's insurance is due Monday, and I have an alarm system being installed tomorrow evening that is going to cost about a hundred smackers for activation, first month monitoring and a hardware upgrade.

Overall, I think I got a pretty decent deal on the system. Obviously, the salesman is going to tell you that you got a good deal regardless of whether or not you actually are, but here's what I managed to get with the claimed price of such items:

Wireless keypad with 2-way voice (to the monitoring people) -$125
2 Door contacts - Don't know, included in the basic free system
1 Glassbreak sensor - $160 retail, $20 upgrade from the standard motion sensor (got this in case I ever have large pets that would trip a motion sensor)
Key fob (to arm, disarm and set off the alarm remotely) - $90

Now, the activation fee is normally $99, but they had a promotion for $69. They gave me the glassbreak and the key fob, plus I only had to pay $25 for the two-way voice instead of $125. The trade-off being I don't get the two free months monitoring the coupon offered. So, in essence, to get $265 in savings, I give up $64. Of course, I'm sure these things don't REALLY cost that much...but all the same I think I came out about the fact that my several thousand dollars of posessions will now have something watching over them on the odd chance that someone should attempt to steal things...well, tomorrow they will anyway. Monitoring is about a dollar a day ($1.05 to be exact), so I can think of worse things to spend that money on.

I think I'm starting to get excited about moving now...slowly. I still don't like the "work" aspect...but hey, when have any of you known me to like work? Speaking of, I probably should do some at some point...I say that every day though.

What else what else....hmmmm....crap, I need to pay for this site too. That's going to suck. I need to find the 1099-INT so I can finish my taxes and get the refund that I desperately need at the moment. I'm not going to go under by any stretch of the imagination, but I would like to maintain certain levels of funding. The $500 in tax refunds would be quite helpful. My credit card is at about 2/3s of it's limit, and I don't like that one bit since I don't have the money to just pay these things off anymore.

Planetside still continues to kick ass. If you have a good machine (read: very good), I highly recommend it. You can still track my progress here. I might get a new site to do those stats with a little more detail, but that's fine for now, though I have a few minor characters that I don't think show up there...

Yeah, that's all I feel like babbling about at the moment, I'm sure there will be more yawns in the background.

So...for those who were not aware, the Runt came down here for a visit. She arrived Super Bowl Sunday and then just left...literally six minutes ago as I'm typing this (that's when the plane left).

I don't even know how to describe it. We were both on such emotional rollercoasters that I honestly don't know how she felt about anything when she left. Seemed like she had fun, even if she did spend quite a lot of nights yelling at me. Maybe later I'll be able to bring myself to type more about what went on, but it's just all so painful right now.

I am so emotionally fucked that it isn't even funny. I'm supposed to go into work today...but I don't know if I can. I'm going to be spending the whole day worried sick about her getting home safely and I don't know if I want to randomly burst out into tears at work. Even after all the time we've been around each other and known each breaks my heart to have to say goodbye.

I can't even think I'm going to crawl under the covers and hope that someday my heart will stop killing me. :*(
